Thousands attend funeral for NYPD Detective McDonald in Manhattan

The funeral for NYPD Detective Steven McDonald was held today at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan. 



Thousands attended the services for Detective McDonald, who died this week after a heart attack at the age of 59.



McDonald was paralyzed after being shot by a bike thief in 1986. How he dealt with that life-altering encounter in Central Park inspired thousands. He forgave the man who shot him, and dedicated the second half of his life to helping and motivating others.
