Most charges dropped against Hopatcong man in bunny suit

Most of the charges filed against a Hopatcong man who showed up to the police station dressed in a bunny suit and repeatedly blowing an air horn have been dropped.

Kevin Hemmerich and his brother Jason showed up to the Hopatcong Police Department headquarters in November to turn Kevin in for an outstanding warrant.

The brothers told News 12 New Jersey that they thought it would be funny for Kevin to dress in a bunny costume and blow an air horn while inside the police station. The event was streamed on Facebook Live.

A police officer is seen on video appearing to strike Kevin Hemmerich after asking him why he was blowing the horn. That officer is facing assault charges.

The Sussex County prosecutor has dropped most of the charges filed against the Hemmerich brothers after the incident, but Kevin Hemmerich will still face disorderly conduct charges.
