Ceremony held to honor Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Elizabeth

A special ceremony was held in Elizabeth Friday to honor two participants in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

The program pairs an adult mentor with an at-risk youth.

Carlos Padilla, 18, says he was mentored for the past four years by Jesse Koblentz. Padilla says the pair had an instant connection and that the program changed his life.

"You're down at the bottom, and when you have a role model like Jesse, it's a big step," he says. "You have a role model who's always there, he's taking you out, talking to you, saying what's right and wrong."

Padilla says he has recently enlisted in the Army.
