Police: Western Global employee arrested after trying to steal generator

Milford police say they arrested a New Haven man for trying to steal a large generator from his employer Saturday morning.

Police say the man used a screwdriver to pry open a door, which set off an alarm and alerted police.

They say they arrived to find 55-year-old Calvin Conley trying to strap a large generator to the roof of his car.

Police say Conley told them he had permission from his employer to take the generator for the weekend, but Western Global says that was not the case.

Officials say Conley also took some kitchen and bathroom supplies. Conley was released on a promise to appear in court later this month.
