Former Port Authority official David Samson disbarred following United bribery plot

A former Port Authority official and mentor to Gov. Chris Christie was disbarred in December after pleading guilty to a bribery scheme a few months ago.

News 12 New Jersey confirmed that David Samson was disbarred on Dec. 21 and will be permanently restrained from practicing law.

Samson admitted pressuring United Airlines to restart a money-losing flight from Newark to South Carolina so he could travel to a weekend home. He was to be sentenced Thursday, but the hearing was postponed until March. No explanation was given for the postponement.

United's CEO and two other high-ranking officials were forced out last year over their dealings with Samson.

Samson was a former New Jersey attorney general who was appointed to the Port Authority post by Gov. Christie in 2011.
