Winter weather causes flight delays at Newark Liberty International Airport

A small amount of snow, rain and windy weather caused some flight delays at Newark Liberty International Airport and elsewhere in the world.

The weather was mostly clear by Thursday evening, but the impact caused delays in nearly two dozen cities across the country.

United Airlines' Terminal C in Newark was packed Thursday afternoon as travelers were returning from their holiday getaways. Several flights to areas expecting to see snow Friday were canceled, and there were delays of up to two hours at various points in the day.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey urges travelers to check with their carriers to find out the status of their flights.
