Fires break out at West NY apartment building
Flames burst out in a West New York apartment building Monday afternoon.
The North Hudson fire chief says firefighters responded to the building around 2 p.m. They found multiple fires on the eighth floor -- with hot spots ranging up to the 10th floor.
There was also another fire earlier in the morning that the chief says he does not believe is related to the afternoon incident.
Officials were testing the building for carbon monoxide before residents could return to their homes. Some were already returning to their homes early Monday evening, but the elevators remained out of service.
A couple of residents were treated at the scene, but no one was taken away in an ambulance, according to officials.
