Travelers head to airports as holiday rush begins

As the holiday weekend approaches, travelers are beginning to head to the airports.
Some travelers told News 12 New Jersey that there were several traffic tie-ups at Newark Liberty International Airport's pick-up and drop-off locations, as well as parking lots Thursday.
Fortunately for passengers, most of Thursday's flights departing Newark Liberty were on time.
Some evening flights were delayed, including a 7:20 p.m. flight that was pushed to 10:15 p.m. and an 8:40 p.m. flight pushed to 9 p.m.
Throughout the day, flight check-in lines picked up, but security lines remained traffic-free.
"The traffic from trying to pick up passengers and being dropped off is a bit chaotic. The lines here went very well. Everyone's very helpful at the desk," said traveler Corina Siegfried.
AAA says 6.7 percent of travelers in New Jersey will be flying this holiday weekend, which is up one percent from last year.
AAA also estimates that 6 million people will be flying this holiday weekend nationwide.
