Eatontown police arrest suspect in stabbing at Monmouth mall

Eatontown police have arrested the person accused of stabbing someone inside the Monmouth Mall after an argument.

Police said the attack happened Saturday night after the suspect and the victim got into an argument that turned physical. Both the suspect and the victim are underage boys.

During the fight, the victim was stabbed in the chest and taken to the hospital with a collapsed lung. Police say he is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

The suspect was arrested Monday. His name is not being released by police due to his age.

Videos of the brawl inside the mall were posted to social media. Mall patrons getting their last-minute shopping done said they were surprised by the incident and were uneasy with the situation.

"You worry about your family, your kids. My wife shops here," said Tinton Falls resident Bill Homza.

Police are asking anyone who may have any additional information about the incident to contact Eatontown Police Detective Aaron Shaw at 732-389-7644.
