Crews rescue deer from icy South Amboy pond

Rescue crews were on scene to rescue a deer that had fallen through the ice of a frozen pond in South Amboy.

The reports first came in just after 4 p.m. that a deer had fallen into the pond in Waterworks Park Friday afternoon.

Crews were able to reach the deer and place it on a rescue sled. One of the rescuers had to get into the icy waters with the deer. After several minutes, they were all able to slide across the ice and get to dry land.

The condition of the deer was not immediately released.
