Charges dropped against New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia

The domestic violence assault charge against New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia has been dismissed.
It was the Fort Lee prosecutor's recommendation after meeting with Familia's wife. She asked that the charges be dropped.
Familia was arrested and charged with domestic violence for an incident in Fort Lee, according to an official complaint.
Officers noticed a scratch on the victim's chest and a bruise on the victim's right cheek, and those injuries led responding officers to find probable cause to believe that domestic violence had occurred, according to the complaint.
Familia was charged with simple assault, a disorderly persons offense in New Jersey.
The pitcher lives in Fort Lee with his wife and child, according to published reports.
Familia has appeared in a public service announcement for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The NCADV has pulled the PSA featuring Familia and called on the Mets to launch an investigation into the incident.
