A murder investigation is underway after authorities say a livery cab driver was shot to death after crashing on a residential street in Orange.

The incident occurred Wednesday evening on Snyder Street.

The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Jonas Larose, of East Orange.

According to witnesses, the cab came barreling down the street. It first hit a garbage can and tree, then struck an SUV, and came to a stop after hitting another tree.

No one else in the neighborhood was hurt.

Witnesses saw two men run from the car, but police have not confirmed anything information related to suspects or a motive.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the prosecutor's tip line at 877-847-7432.
