John F. Kennedy International Airport launches daily flights to Cuba

John F. Kennedy International Airport will now offer daily flights to Cuba though JetBlue Airlines.

The inaugural flight left Monday morning, as Cuba continued a mourning period for Fidel Castro.

Commercial flights between the United States and Cuba have been taking off for the last several months as relations between the two countries have improved.

U.S. regulations now allow 12 categories of travel to Cuba. Americans without family ties in Cuba can go there if their trip fits into one of those categories, such as educational.

United Airlines will begin offering flights to Cuba out of Newark Liberty International Airport Tuesday.
