No injuries in fire that destroys 3 homes in Elizabeth

A fire destroyed at least three homes overnight in Elizabeth.

There were no injuries to report, all thanks to a woman knocking on doors and waking people up from their sleep and helping them escape. It included getting her own baby out of the burning homes, as well as a man who is an amputee.

Firefighters and police also worked together to help resuscitate and save a dog. While the firefighters' hands were full, the woman was helping others to safety.

"Thank God for the woman that was knocking on our door or else we wouldn't have, we probably would have fallen asleep and God knows what would have happened," says neighbor Grace Makar.

No word yet on how or where the fire started.
