Newark police step up patrols for Election Day

Newark increased police patrols across the city for Election Day.
Newark police officials say that the increase in security was not due to any specific threat, but that they always step up patrols around polling places for elections.
"[Officers] are in cars patrolling and if anything happens in one of the polling sites, they're able to respond to that location," said Newark Police Capt. Derek Glen.
The extra patrols started at 6 a.m. when polls opened.
Newark has 160 polling locations throughout the city.
