Emaciated dog thrown from car in Paterson has died

An emaciated dog who was thrown from a car and abandoned in Paterson has died.

The Shih Tzu-poodle mix, nicknamed Grant, was being cared for at the Oradell Animal Hospital after he was found last weekend.

Doctors say that they thought he would make a comeback, but say that his health worsened Thursday night.

The dog apparently had multiple organ failures and was resuscitated several times, but did not make it.

The doctors believe that he died from suspected complications of starvation and neglect.

Paterson Animal Control Officer John DeCando says that the Grant's owner will face charges, fines and possibly jail time.
