Police: Metuchen High School bomb threat believed to be distraction for bank robbery
Officials say that a bomb threat called into Metuchen High School was a hoax, and possibly a diversionary act for a bank robbery at the TD Bank in town.
The threat was called into the school around 11 a.m. Friday. A short while later the TD Bank located near Lake and Amboy avenues was robbed.
Police believe that the suspects called in the bomb threat in an effort to distract police so that they can pull off the robbery. But police were able to find and arrest both suspects later that day.
Metuchen police and the FBI are investigating the crimes.
