Child injured after being run over by Point Pleasant parade float

Authorities say a 6-year-old boy was injured Sunday when a float ran over him during a Halloween parade staged in a Jersey Shore town.

Point Pleasant police say the boy was walking along the parade route with his mother when he was struck by a wheel from a utility trailer being used as a float.

The child was taken to a hospital, but further details on his injuries and his condition were not disclosed.

Authorities say the accident remains under investigation.
