Passaic County Sheriff's officer struck by vehicle in Totowa, seriously injured

A New Jersey sheriff's officer working a construction detail has been struck by a vehicle and seriously injured.
Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik says the sheriff's sergeant was working a detail in Totowa Wednesday night when he was hit.
Berdnik says a Woodland Park police lieutenant witnessed the accident and provided medical attention until an ambulance arrived.

Berdnik says the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
