The Linden Police Department has released body camera video that shows officers' first interactions with bombing suspect Ahmad Rahimi.
Rahimi is accused of setting off bombs in Seaside Park and the Chelsea section of Manhattan on Sept. 17. He was arrested on Sept. 19 after getting into a shootout with Linden police.
Linden police were called to a local bar on the morning of Sept. 19 for reports of a person sleeping in a doorway. The bar owner told police that he suspected that the person could be Rahimi.
The Union County prosecutor says that the Linden officer activated his body camera when he arrived at the scene.
The video shows the officers speaking with Rahimi and asking his name. Rahimi tells the officers that his name is Ahmad Khan and says that he is homeless.
The video ends before the shootout. Rahimi was shot by police during the altercation.
Rahimi is facing state charges for allegedly attempting to kill the Linden police officers. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
He will also face federal charges for the bombings.
