Cranberry harvest season begins in South Jersey

Cranberry harvest season has begun in South Jersey.

News 12 traveled to the Pinelands in Burlington County, where it's now crunch time for farmers.

When the cranberries ripen, it's all hands on deck at Lee Brothers Farm in Chatsworth. Cranberry farming is something the Lee family has been doing every fall since 1868.

By early November, workers will have harvested millions of pounds of cranberries as part of the Ocean Spray cooperative.

Stephen Lee IV tells News 12 that the tart fruit goes well beyond the Thanksgiving Day table. He says cranberries' growing popularity ensures the future of his family's farm.
