Police: Newark man found with 250 envelopes of heroin

Police say a Newark man was found with hundreds of envelopes of heroin.

Detectives say they were on patrol when they tried to stop a car Friday night near Ludlow and Virginia streets.

They say Najee Atkins jumped out of the car, tossed a bag and ran.

The bag allegedly had 250 envelopes of suspected heroin, as well as crack and cocaine.

When detectives arrested Atkins, they say he also had a gun and more heroin packets.
