72-year-old Edwin Lane dies from injuries in West Milford boat hit-and-run

A 72-year-old man who was injured in a hit-and-run boat crash over Labor Day weekend has died from his injuries, according to New Jersey State Police.

Edwin Lane was with his wife and another couple in a boat on Greenwood Lake in West Milford when another boat crashed into them.

Lane and passenger Robert Roon, 76, suffered serious head injuries. Their wives were also injured, but were able to call for help.

Officials say Lane succumbed to his injuries over the weekend.

Police have still not been able to identify the driver of the boat that hit the two couples. They believe it may be a ski boat.

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone who might have any information about the crash should call the state police Carteret Station at 732-541-0491.
