World War II veteran John Grabowski honored in Long Branch

A New Jersey World War II veteran was honored in Long Branch and presented with several medals.
John Grabowski, 89, earned several medals more than 60 years ago while serving in the Merchant Marines and the Army during World War II.
Rep. Frank Pallone presented Grabowski Monday with the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal.
Grabowski was a carpenter and has been married to his wife, Adela, for 69 years. His daughter, Ann, says that she wants people to know what a great man her father is.
"My dad was always very quiet about what he did during WWII, and I have a girlfriend who [says], 'He's the Greatest Generation,' and she's so right," Ann Grabowski says.
Grabowski tells News 12 New Jersey that he is very happy about today's ceremony and wants to thank Rep. Pallone.
