Police: Fight in Rutgers parking lot leads to shooting

Police say a fight between two people on the Livingston campus of Rutgers University ended in a shooting Friday afternoon.

The incident took place in parking lot 103, which was described as busy by students due to its proximity to dorms and the recreation center.

Police say one of the men was armed with a machete while the other was armed with a gun. They say the gunman fired shots into a parked car, then drove off in a black SUV.

Police did not say if the person with the machete was injured. The incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault.

Authorities will be looking at surveillance cameras in lot 103 in an effort to identify a suspect.
