2 hurt in wrong-way, head-on crash on Route 3 in Secaucus

Authorities say at least two people were injured when an elderly wrong-way driver crashed head-on into another vehicle on a bridge in Hudson County

The crash on the Hackensack River Bridge on Route 3 West in Secaucus occurred around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Secaucus police say a preliminary investigation found an elderly woman was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes when the crash occurred.

Both drivers were being treated at a hospital. But their names and further details on their injuries were not disclosed.

Authorities were forced to close several westbound lanes of the highway while the accident was cleaned up.

The crashed caused significant traffic delays during the morning rush.
