A late-night shooting in Plainfield left a 25-year-old man dead and two others injured, according to the Union County Prosecutor's office.

Officials say Plainfield police officers responded to the 700 block of Hillside Avenue around 11 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a shooting. The officers found 25-year-old Marcus Ellis and a 26-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both men were rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment, but Ellis died shortly after. Police also found out that a third victim, a 30-year-old man, had driven himself to the Muhlenberg emergency room in Plainfield. He and the 26-year-old victim had injuries that were not considered to be life threatening.

Union County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the shooting.

Anyone who might have any information about the crime is asked to contact Homicide Task Force Sgt. Michael Manochio at 908-966-2287 or Detective Rudolfo Correia at 908-418-5800.
