1 dead, 4 hurt in Atlantic City Expressway shootout; bullet holes cover SUV

A shootout on the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor Township has left one person dead and four others hurt.
State police Capt. Stephen Jones says that authorities believe that the people inside the two cars involved in the shootout knew each other and that this was not a random act.
Jones says that police recovered a number of weapons after the shooting. He says that authorities are looking for a third vehicle that witnesses say may be connected to the incident.
Police say they received reports of a shooting on the Atlantic City Expressway on Monday afternoon, followed by calls for medical assistance about 5 miles away on the Garden State Parkway and at a Wawa 2 miles away.
An SUV covered with bullet holes was found in the Wawa parking lot. There are bullet holes in the front windshield and on the passenger side door of the SUV. One rear tire is gone, and there are drag marks in the area.
Portions of the expressway were closed for a time while police investigated.
