Police arrest suspect who stole police cruiser

Police have arrested a man who they say took off in a Nutley police cruiser and led officers on a chase before crashing into another vehicle.

It all started on the border of Nutley and Clifton, near Passaic Avenue around 9 a.m. Friday.

Police say while they were there investigating a domestic violence incident, Edgar Ordonez took control of the police car, and attacked an officer while attempting to flee.

They say they chased Ordonez along Passaic Avenue until he crashed into another car on Route 3.

Ordonez is facing carjacking, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and weapons charges.
