Police: Stray bullet leaves girl, 8, in critical condition

An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was shot in the head by a stray bullet in Camden.

Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson says the gunfire broke out around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when several men opened fire on an intended target. He says the girl was across the street from her house when she was caught in the crossfire.

Authorities say the shooters jumped in a car and fled the scene at a high rate of speed following the shooting. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the area.

Thomson says police are asking for anyone with information on the shooting to come forward.

No arrests have been made.
