Police arrest Daequan Jackson for fatal shooting at Jersey City church hall
An 18-year-old wanted in a Jersey City church hall shooting that left a teenage boy dead and two teen girls wounded has turned himself in to authorities.
Hudson County prosecutors tell News 12 New Jersey that Daequan Jackson surrendered to county homicide detectives around 9 p.m. Monday. He remained jailed Tuesday.
Authorities had issued an arrest warrant for Jackson on Thursday, charging him with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
The counts stem from an Aug. 9 shooting that killed 17-year-old city resident Leander Williams.
The two injured girls, ages 12 and 16, both suffered upper body wounds. Both were treated at hospitals and have since been released.
It was not immediately known if Jackson retained an attorney.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
