Firefighter injured in Middletown house fire

A family of five escaped a house fire in Middletown.

The blaze happened Saturday morning at a home on Crab Apple Lane.

Fire officials say the family was having breakfast when a smoke alarm alerted them to the fire upstairs.

Firefighters found the flames in a stairway leading to the attic. The house sustained serious damage to the roof and attic.

The cause of the flames is under investigation.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury while responding.
