Authorities: Man wanted to be arrested to get drug treatment
Authorities say a New Jersey man told investigators he wanted to go to jail to beat his drug addiction.
The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office tells the Courier News of Bridgewater 56-year-old Troy Crane demanded a bank teller in North Plainfield cash a forged check. The prosecutor says Crane then sat down, returned the money and asked the teller, "How long will the cops take to get here?"
Crane is charged with uttering a forged document and false public alarm.
He's held on $15,000 bail and it's not known if he has an attorney.
