A few weekend warriors were happy to ditch the air conditioning and exercise in the blazing heat on Sunday.
Roosevelt Park in Edison, which is normally crowded on a sunny summer Sunday, was a virtual ghost town over the weekend except for some residents who didn't mind taking their workouts outside.
"I enjoy sweating, so I like running and I like walking," says Renee Garcia, of Colonia. "And there's not so much foot traffic so it's much more fun to work out."
For those looking to exercise outside, doing so early or late in the day is recommended, when the sun isn't as strong.
According to News 12 New Jersey meteorologists, the state is in its fifth heat wave of the year.
