Suspect arrested after SWAT team response in Newark

Newark police have apprehended a homeless man who prompted a SWAT team response when he confronted the new owners of the building he was allegedly squatting in.



Police were called to 451 Frelinghuysen Ave. around 12:43 p.m. after the new property owners reported that they found a man with a gun inside the building. The owners fled to the roof and had to be rescued by the SWAT team.



Police apprehended the man and seized a BB gun that was found inside the building.



Officials did not immediately release the homeless man's name or if he would be facing any charges.
