Newark authorities are continuing to search sewer drains near the Passaic River in an effort to find the man who fled police by swimming into a storm drain.
Police say they do not know if the man is alive or not.
Keith Jean ran from police following a traffic stop.
Police say he appeared to be casing a parking lot where recent burglaries occurred. When Jean was questioned he told police he would not go back to jail and jumped into the river.
"I heard that he had an accident on the parkway. And that he ran away," says the suspect's father, Marc Jean
Jean hasn't been seen since he disappeared into the storm drain.
