New Jersey teen is bound for Olympics in Rio de Janeiro
New Jersey native Sydney McLaughlin will be going to Rio de Janeiro next month as the youngest member of the Olympic track and field team.
At just 16 years old, McLaughlin admits that the pressure is overwhelming. She has even had her face on a special edition Gatorade bottle.
"You're in front of a crowd of thousands of people who are also watching you on TV," McLaughlin said. "I don't think people understand the amount of pressures that come with that."
McLaughlin said she is going to skip the opening ceremonies because she wants to spend her birthday at home in New Jersey.
