Long Beach Island vacationers say trip was ruined by beach replenishment project

Some vacationers on Long Beach Island say that their annual summer getaway was ruined by a beach replenishment project.
Westwood resident Karen Lippin found that the beaches along the 1,000 block of North Beach on LBI were closed because of construction equipment.
Lippin says that she and other summer home renters paid more than $10,000 for their week on the island and were not told about the construction projects.
"At night we felt the vibration from the dredging and it shook the whole house. And the sounds! This is supposed to be a peaceful place," Lippin says.
Messages left at the real estate business in charge of some of the affected beachfront rentals were not returned.
