Boy dies from injuries suffered in Anthem of the Seas cruise ship pool
An 8-year-old boy who was critically injured after he fell into a pool on the Anthem of the Seas cruise ship has died, Royal Caribbean confirms.
A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean tells News 12 New Jersey, "We are heartbroken to learn the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this terribly sad time."
The boy, Prince Adepoju, fell into the pool hours after the ship left the port in Bayonne on June 30. He may have been in the water for up to 10 minutes before he was found by officials.
The ship's medical personnel performed CPR on Adepoju and the ship headed back to the Bayonne port.
The boy was airlifted to a hospital on Staten Island for medical care.
The Anthem of the Seas was heading to the Caribbean at the time of the incident.
