Police: Gunman fatally shot man, stole car with infant inside
Authorities say a gunman fatally shot a man in front of a Salem County cemetery and then stole his car with the victim's year-old son inside.
The child was later found unharmed after the suspect abandoned the vehicle in Philadelphia.
Penns Grove police say the shooting occurred around 4:10 p.m. Saturday. The victim, a 24-year-old Pennsville man, was shot multiple times and was found leaning against the cemetery's wrought iron fence.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities say the child was in the car's back seat, strapped in his car seat. It's not clear if the shooter knew the child was in the vehicle when he stole it.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
