New Jersey is expected to see its first heat wave of 2016 as temperatures are expected to be above 90 degrees for the rest of the week.

Some Essex County residents were taking advantage of the slightly cooler weather Tuesday inside Brookdale Park in Bloomfield for the Essex County Independence Day celebrations.

The fireworks show was originally scheduled for July 1, but rainstorms meant a postponement until July 5. It turned out to be a perfect time due to the rain on July 4 and the excessive heat expected July 6.

Suzie and Lou Pounds tell News 12 New Jersey that they can't wait for the scorching weather.

"We love the hazy hot weather, my husband and family and I, because we are beach people," Suzie Pounds says.

But some of the concession vendors at the fireworks show say that sometimes high temperatures are bad for their businesses.

"If it's too hot they don't come out...100 is just too hot," says Carmine Mandato of Carnival Concessions. "Rain can hurt us. It has to be somewhere in the middle."

The National Weather Service issued some heat advisories for many areas of the state for the next few days.
