Police: Father and son killed in personal watercraft accident in Somers Point

New Jersey State Police say a father and his 8-year-old son were killed in a personal watercraft accident in Somers Point.

It happened Saturday afternoon on Patcong Creek.

Authorities say the personal watercraft carrying the father and son crashed head-on into another personal watercraft as they rounded a sharp curve from opposite directions.

The 55-year-old woman driving the other craft, of Egg Harbor Township, suffered a wrist injury. She was taken to Shore Medical Center for treatment.

Police say the father was sitting behind his son at the time of the crash.

Authorities say there's no indication that alcohol played a factor in the crash.

They have not yet released the names of the father and son, who are reportedly from Maryland.
