Police shoot and kill man in Paterson

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a shooting involving police officers that left a man dead in Paterson.



The office says the shooting took place around 2 a.m. Friday in the area of Summer and Cedar streets.



Authorities tell The Record newspaper officers were walking toward the man when he began firing at them and they returned fire.



The officers were not injured. But Police Director Jerry Speziale says they were treated for trauma.



The name of the man has not been released.
