‘Countdown bandit’ bank robbery suspect pleads not guilty
The suspect known as "the countdown bandit" made his first court appearance Friday morning at the Bergen County Courthouse.

Marcelino Garcia, 23, who is charged in connection with 10 New Jersey bank robberies in the last year and a half, pleaded not guilty.
Garcia will continue to be held on $750,000 bail.
He got the nickname "the countdown bandit" for his habit of counting down the seconds until the teller handed him the money.
His robbery spree began in Rochelle Park last February and was followed by robberies in Maywood, Riveredge, New Milford, Glen Rock, Lyndhurst and Oradell. All of those robberies took place in 2015.
This year, Garcia allegedly robbed banks in Wayne and Garfield, getting away with $11,000.
He was arrested Thursday shortly after he allegedly attempted to rob the Spencer Savings Bank in Wallington.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on July 6.
