Light rail train, tractor-trailer collide in Jersey City

Authorities say a collision involving a light rail train and a tractor-trailer in Jersey City caused a brief service suspension on the Hudson/Bergen line but no serious injuries.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. Monday near the Newport Centre mall.

Officials say 23 people were on board the train. The train operator was treated at the scene for a minor back injury, but no passengers were injured.

Rail service was restored about 15 minutes after the crash occurred. But some residual delays were being reported.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
