Staying cool: 4-H Fair participants protect animals from extreme heat
The Morris County 4-H Fair is taking place this weekend and participants are doing their best to protect the animals from excessive heat.

The Morris County 4-H Fair is taking place this weekend and participants are doing their best to protect the animals from excessive heat.
Temperatures in New Jersey will reach the upper-90s, with the humidity making conditions feel as if temperatures are over 110 degrees.
Fair organizers say that keeping the animals comfortable is the No. 1 job.

“These are our kids’ personal pets, so they take great care and pride in making sure their animals are well taken care of,” says Kelly Dziak.
Cold bottles of water will be used to keep smaller animals like guinea pigs and rabbits cool. Those bottles are frozen so that the animals can cuddle up against them.
Large fans and a water mist will help keep the horses cool.
The fair runs through the weekend at Chubb Park in Chester.
