Two people were killed and third person was seriously injured in a crash that involved three motorcycles on the Turnpike Sunday.

State police say the crash happened at 1:22 p.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike southbound outer roadway in the area of mile marker 84 in New Brunswick.

They say two of the motorcycle drivers involved were pronounced dead at the scene. The third was transported to Robert Wood Johnson in serious condition.

State police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation. 

The identities of those involved were not released.
