Stamford police have identified the man who died after falling off a roof Wednesday as 59-year-old Jacek Pilchowski.

Police say Pilchowski, of Stamford, was replacing skylights on the flat roof at the Stamford Windustrial Company and stepped in an area where there used to be a skylight.

They say he fell close to 30 feet, and may have landed on his head when he hit the concrete floor.

Stamford Police Cpt. Tom Barcello called it a “tragic accident.”

Police say Pilchowski was taken to Stamford Hospital where he died of his injuries. They say the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating the incident.
