Some food truck operators in Stamford are seeking new spots to run to their businesses.
A line of food trucks could usually be found every night along Spring Street, catering to customers coming out of the nearby bars. But on Monday, Stamford's Food Truck Committee decided that the mobile eateries couldn't park there anymore.
Last August, the city barred food trucks from Bedford Street, around the corner from Spring Street.
Restaurants in the area say food trucks are unfair competition, citing their lower prices. Restaurants also complained about the trucks' patrons, who they say are often intoxicated and pollute the area with noise and litter.
Some truck owners are finding new business with help from the private sector. The Lord & Taylor department store on High Ridge Road has opened its parking lot to a rotating stable of food trucks, which some owners say could be a win-win situation for all parties.
