January and February usually make up the peak flu season, but the recent spike in sickness might just be weather-related.

Doctor's offices statewide say they're busier than usual with bronchial infections, and some say what's happening outside is to blame. Changes in temperature make the body work overtime to adjust, which can make immune systems more susceptible to bugs.

Dr. Doug Borkowski tells News 12 New Jersey that he advises lots of hand-washing and getting more moisture in the home through devices like Neti Pots. He also recommends drinking plenty of fluids and resting if you do get sick.
